JANUARY 13 1942 Sunny. Washed. Hans fitted catches to 2 storm windows; left for Jefferson. I went to Mrs. Clift's with discussion material. Hans got new filing cabinet to file a lot of our stuff. He and Frank began nailing up bee hives. 1943 After Pauline got Signe's suit ready to try on, we went to Madison. Delivered 15 pounds honey. Lunch at Manchester's. We shopped all over- Purse, etc. Home at 6:15! Tired. 1944. Cold and windy. Frank still in bed Did some cleaning. Sewed on dress. Mrs. Backhahn offered to take me to 4H leader's meeting at Verona, but Mr. Hurley and Miss G - Hoffman came this way and took me. Walked to mailbox 4 times and to Zeigler's twice. 1945. Awake from 4 on. Hans' mother and I drove to Alex. Farmer's Market at 8:15; I stood in long line 1/2 hr.- but not enuf chickens. She bought shoes, I groceries. We cleaned, I baked layer cake and [illegible]. Tired. Napped. 32° 36° 1946 Quite chilly. We drove to church. Rev. Clarke preached on "Year of Decision". We went to Trans Lux news movies, review of 1945. In eve Hans showed his pics to the Powers family and Tulbertsons here.
