JANUARY 14 1942. Windy. Write Bea and Hilda. Ironed. Weak from bum tummy. Letter from Dora that Wayne went on troop train to [10?] P.M. New York City. (probably Ireland) 1943. Thawed some for a change. Baked bread and appelkuchen. Sent birthday card to Bea, letter to Frank, and to Mr. Hurley. Pauline and I talked till 12:40! 1944 Nice day. Baked bread and custards. Sent birthday card and cress and "Star of Bethlehem" seeds to Bea. Airmail from Sig about Hess. I took airmail back to her, driving in to village also to see Shulenberg. Sewed, studied, etc. Mr. Meicher here in eve, brought Frank's gun. 1945. Hilda and Fred and Daisy Rossiter, his father, and Grace Gayheart here for dinner - most we have had at one time (8). They stayed till 5 - Read in "A Bell for Adano" 1946. Bright day. Baked bread, washed (inc. a blanket and spread), Hung outside. Cut another sunsuit. Took nap, sent Sig more sheets, attended Alex District Missionary Institute an hr. or so. Worked on plans for remodeling our church!
