JANUARY 29 1942. Signe is 21. Ironed, wrote Hans, Hilda. Took Sig's cake in to her, and her laundry. Tired in eve. Read most of Cornelia Meig's "As the Crow Flies", the story of Zebulon Pike. 1943. Pauline driving, we took in Sig's birthday cake. Called on Mr. Hurley's office. More snow. Baked bread, cherry cobbler, had haddock, frozen corn on cob, peas, beets, Hans and Amy here from 4 o'clock. She slept with me. 1944. Baked bread, angel food (for Henkel's) and golden cake and custard. Cleaned most of house. To Middleton with Frank; arranged for pop and cookies for Tues. eve. Jay here again before going to La Salle, Ill. Typed my "Pan American Pageant". 1945 Too much candy, etc. I slept from 10-12! Finished reading "The Last of the Vikings". Windy. K. to Washington. 1946 Did the washing, some cleaning, in on 11:15 bus to Wash. for another X ray treatment, also to Dr. House for allergy tests, all negative. Made some sunsuit buttonholes and worked on Sig's rug.
