JANUARY 31 1942. Baked bread. Telegram in P.M. from Hans who got home at 9 from Jefferson, Iowa. He got a raise in rating to P4 and "an increase in responsibility" 1943 S.S. attendance contest closed, both sides winning, 505 for reds, 513 blues. Fresh strawberry shortcake for dinner - Helped Hans write a summary report for Richland Co and application for federal employment (different) 1944. Made 9 calls on 4th War Bond Drive Got $1700 worth (Maturity Value). Hans and I to Middleton in P.M. From 3:30 to 4 I went thru Pan American pageant at Ph. Bn school. Hans and I walked to K Scmidt's in eve. 1945. Ironed, baked bread, cleaned up house. Expected Jay W, but he did not show up. We read and wrote dansk in eve. 35° 48° 1946. Drizzly. Drove to Mrs. Gilliam's at 10 and served till 2. Shopped at Safeway on Mt. Vernon Ave. Mrs. McIntyre told me Hans called about eve mtg. so I went in to hear Dr. W. C. Lawdermilk of S.C.S. and see his Chinese pictures.
