FEBRUARY 7 1942. Baked cookies before breakfast, also brown bread. Cleaned, washed a bit. Card from Hans. To village at 5. Finished reading "The Nazarene" by Sholem Asch. 1943. First Sunday we missed going to church for long time. After breakfast Frank and Johnnie shoveled out our driveway. Pauline and I napped in P.M. Called on Mrs. Henkel in eve. Wrote Hilda. 1944. Colder. Washed. Only hung 2 pr. white unionalls outside. Ironed some, pressed 2 pr. pants. Gave domino game to Dolores Meicher when she brought news. Caryl Roberts got enrollment card. I figured our state income tax. 23° 45° 1945 Worked on blood donor unit at Airport. which made its quota and I was home at 2:10, riding in Canteen mobile. Washed a few pieces for Hans, did big ironing. In eve Hans and I spent an hour with Henry A Wallace and wife in their Apt. in Wardman Park hotel. Hans showed her how to "toe off" khaki socks for Bob, and is to take pkgs to him in Paris. 1946. Had bilious headache so didn't go to Chinese class. Cleaned some, baked bread, and filled cookies.
