FEBRUARY 13 1942. Frank & I met 1:42 A.M. train from Chicago. Hans and I did not sleep much, or I didn't. Got Z early breakfast then to bed till after 8. Hans and I got Signe and K. also Amy Gerling at 5:40 train; she was here for oyster supper. 1943. Took Z into Madison at 10. Sent box to Pauline - beige wool for Rita and K's suit to make. To 4H leaders' luncheon at Y. W. Acc. "America". Went with Sig & Z to see "Journey for Margaret". Sig completed her nurses' training. Ordered [ft?]. pen for her. Made a honey choc. cake. 1944. Very windy and cold. Stayed home. Ralph Davis here a while. Zillie here in eve. I wrote Signe and Hans. Kathryn here P. M. and over night. Frank went to Madison to show - Slipped off road by Cornwell's coming back - so 1945. Rainy after several spring-like days. In P.M., K & I shopped in Alex. Ordered Hans' photos. Started Sig's postal savings Ac'ct. Called on Mrs. and Mr. Norberg in eve. 1946. We drove up for usual Chinese classes in "the pantry" at 1706 New Hampshire. I finally saw Mrs. Wadeworth and took my first shots - tetanus, typhus, and typhoid and Schick test. We drove out to Sears and I got a suitcase. Tried to shop, but found little. In eve we had dinner with "the animals of the Ark" at All Souls' Church and Hans and I showed German pictures.
