MARCH 1 41° 1942. 69 at S.S. Took Mr. Critser's place as Supt. Dan H & Dr. Ruff home. Frank & I took K in by 2. Read in "Inside Latin America" 1943 Baked Zillie honey chocolate layer cake, cleaned the downstairs. In eve 16 mothers surprised Z. We had indoor field meet & "Readin' & 'Ritin' & 'Rithmetic" games. Double surprise - cake for Elsie Lon's birthday. To which Mrs Bell & Mrs Cornwell made. 1944. Cleaned up house - did a little cleaning out of old desk. In eve had 4 tables at cards for P.h. Br. circle of Guild. Hazel, Mrs Bell, O'Kane, Sawle & Pirck furnished food. Gave Zillie dish for her birthday. I broke handle off our silver pitcher. Had auction for Guild benefit. 1945. Sunny, for a change. Worked an hour in A.M. & 2 1/2 in P.M. - Collected $23 for Red Cross & 1 worker! which was better than I expected since most give at work. Ironed. Hilda not here for dinner as she has class Tuesdays and Thursdays. 54° 1946 Spring in Virginia. Saw jasmine in bloom on Russell & Crocus at Mrs. Gilliam's where I made 5 sunsuits in 5 hrs. She did buttonholes & a little basting. Washed windows outside after I got home at 3:30. Cut another sunsuit (my 19th) & baby kimono.
