March 4

MARCH 4
1942. Awake from 3-5:30 with indigestion. Took small nap. Finished ironing, darned, wrote Comments, & letters to Hans, Hilda, Dora. Took load to Happy Home Club at Meicher's. My score 880.
1943 Was awake most of time after 3 AM. Getting up at 5 to get Frank off to work isn't too good. Elsie & I went in for her fingerprints, etc. Got new front room drapes & jersey dress. At Majestic. Got K & Mrs. Buss at 9.
1944. After midnight when girls finished baking bread & rolls- I woke at 5! Packed 3 [bn?]. fruit jars, cleaned out tall desk we sold. Put stuff in maple dresser we put in little room upstairs. Hans & K extracted 120 lb. honey.
1945 Up at 10! We 3 drove to church. Fried chicken for dinner, then baked oatmeal cookies for Hilda's youth group at church. Wrote 4 letters.
77° 1946. Wonderful wash day. Went to UNRRA in P.M. for my smallpox vaccination and a diphtheria inoculation. Worked in poetry scrapbook, ironed & mended some. Read Sinclair Lewis' "Dragon Teeth" (condensation)
