MARCH 29 1942. K., Miss Z and I took Juanita to church. 73 at S.S. Hans came from Chi. on noon train. I got him and Signe. To school for play practise. Hans + I took Signe back then heard cantata "The King Triumphant" at church. 18 voices in choir. 1943. Up at 5 to get Frank off - Jay left while we went back to bed! I took Hans to 10 AM train for Washington, first seeing Rahmlow + buying Hans new hat. Made 4 Red Cross calls. Slept an hour. Frank came home with a temp. Got milk + eggs for him. 1944. Rainy all day. On Exp bus, then breakfast with Hans + G. Baker. Lunch with Mrs. Friedman, who corrected my "Honning Custards" for Dansk Pioneer. We rode out to Frank Bele's in car pool to get car. 89° 1945 Drove to ATC, worked in canteen 6-11 then took Miss Green to chapter house. Called Avis MacLean at George's then met her + Lola at Mellen Art Gallery. She left for Madison at 5:50. K + I went to church in eve. Wrote 3 letters - she began working at Hecht's. 68° 1946 We ironed. It rained. I put furniture ad in Alex. Gazette. Elsie + I took in 30 garments, many magazines, etc. to Goodwill Industries, had my car greased while we went to UNRRA + had lunch. Actually found parking places on 17th St. while we went thru Corcoran Art Gallery + Pan. Am. Union. Rainy.
