APRIL 4 72° Very windy- 1942 Awake from 2 till nearly 6 with indigestion. At 9 took Hazel + Jane to Madison. I got car license - and 3 coats, for Sig, K. + I. Baked bread + chicken. Got Hans from 7:30 bus - he brought me red + white carnations. 1943. 52 in S.S. Late at church + sat on very front seat! 1944. Had bilious spell, but got Hilda pot of pink hydrangeas. 9 of us lunched together at Ag. cafeteria for her 25th birthday. Paul, Jay, Mrs. Clark, Miss Shambaugh, Mary Miller, Miss Birely. Spent P.M. in bed + reading. 1945. Hilda in to Wash. to doctor's and to study. I read in Irving Stone's "The Immortal Wife" Made strawberry ice cream, fixed up a birthday cake. Hilda got cable from Hans. I gave her 2 pair hose. 1946. Put more ads in Riverview - more prospects, but still no sales. Took down + washed curtains, withdrew postal savings + got Travelers' cheques, took old sheets to Mrs. WM Reardon; still no tires! Had battery checked. Packed trunk,\dishes 805 Prince St.
