APRIL 5 1942. Had fine sleep. Nice forenoon - showery after 4. Hans + I to church at 9. 100 at SS - best ever. 13 in my class. Hans + I alone at dinner. Worked on my original poem scrapbook. Took Hans to 5:30 bus for Council Bluffs - + Kansas. 1943. K + I went in by 8. I had stomach Xray. Had to wait from 9:30 to 2, so walked to Miss G. Hoffman's office + napped at Sig's. Took Frank + his "strep" throat to Dr. [Allen?]. He got 25 pkg bees. 10 4H girls here in eve baked 11 dozen cookies for U.S.O. 30° 40° 1944. Busy! Went to Ag. Cafeteria with Hans for breakfast + lunch. To Alexandria in AM + found we can move in. Back to Cotton's to wash, then take receipt to Barkley Bros. + sign lease, + take 3 letters to Paul Pownall. Packed. Hans + I had last supper at HO TOY. We spent an hour with Fru Hansen. Visited some with Jay. 46° 71° 1945 Drove to lunch at Mrs. Major Edw. Zoller in Belle Haven. 12 there - our play castes. We practised, played 3 games and had 2 3 min. plays. Chilly + windy. 1946. Still messing around. More people wanted all furniture - but no place to put it. Most acute housing shortage on record. Got a pr. of rayon hose - after 1/2 hr. in a line at Murphy's. Paul came back from Richmond - with no tire for me. He loaded a heavy box. Stayed all night at Gilliam's as I washed bedding. Heavy wind.
