April 10 1942. Beautiful day. Ironed, then since Marvin couldn't plow garden, I went in and got rear Ford doors repaired. Wrote 7 circle. Brought Signe + Kathryn home. Arranged for garden planting demonstration. K + I attended 4H leaders' meeting in eve. 1943. Mopped + cleaned, did the ironing. Took Z. in to Madison. I had lunch with 4H leaders at YWCA. Agnes Hansen, O.B, combo talked. Bought new blouse. Hans came home unexpectedly. I planned to go to Danville, Ill. with him in car for a week or 2. 1944. 74° Began using my new glass washboard. Hans + I walked the mile to Alex. P.O., came out on bus. Wrote 7 circle went to Viking Club luncheon, heard Lt. Arne Haugland on Norway. Sent several cards + M T T letter. OUr address 1043 Mt. Vernon BLVD! We walked to the Potomac. 1945. First letter from Hans for 8 days- walked to Alex. Got book from "Better Mouse Trap" + pajama goods. at Remnant Shoppe. Worked on HIlda's blouse + [d?]anish blouse. Mrs. Torpe + Mrs. McMorland took me to Douglas McArthur PTA where I pulled curtains and rug belt for play. 1947. Left Randall's at 11, got to Waverly, Ohio at 3:30. Edna Maxwell + I had a big visit at her mother's, 103 E. Third St. Mrs. S.D. McLaughlin. [E?]dna has lived at FLagstaff, Ariz. several yrs. [Illegible] Troxell has 3 children, Sala, James, + April (her birthday, apr. 4, '45) Shirley has 1 girl Suzanne.
