1942. K in to Univ. for day, coming out - for Sr. play "Red headed Step child" in eve. Marvin plowed + I seeded "bee-pasture" + Mr. Henkel moved trees. Nap, then Mrs. Daniels came. Henkels here before K + I walked to Zentner's to drive in. 1943. Awake from 1 - 5:40 with indigestion. Baked bread. Cold - skiffs of snow. Took Mrs. Bell to annual guild election + potluck dinner at 1. Mrs Olson re elected pres. To library board mtg. at 3. We selected 3 books for soldiers. 1944. Windy. Baked first bread in apt, ironed, cleaned. Since table hasn't come, we use ironing board for dining table. Began packing daily lunch for Hans. Hans + I called on Vera Jensen in Fairlington. 58º 86º 1945. Finished Hilda's blouse. Radio's regular "commercials" off the air for 3 or 4 days - fine! Went to "Current Books" class 6-7:30. Tried to get film for Sig at the Eastman Co. Home 8:30. 1946 Bea and Helen + I drove to Kan-kakee for Kathryn, whose train was late. In P.M. we walked Lowe Bros. big hybrid seed corn plant. Took some snaps of the kids at the wishing well. Played hearts till late.
