1942. Wrote Hilda, Pauline, card to Hans, report of nutrition meeting. Varnished Frank's closet floor + part of bedroom. Hemmed 2 houe dresses - nice to have time to sew once! Enjoy bouquet of narcissus + forsythia + iris. Began reading "Keys of the Kingdom" 1943 Ironed, mended, baked bread. Hans phoned and I met his train in Middleton at 10:15 AM. Made spread for K from 2 drapes. Z, F, Hans + I to Verona in eve to district declaw contest. 1944. Hans + I to church at Wash. St. Methodist. Walked home. Wrote K. Signe here from 4 to 7:30 - and Hilda from 9:00 to 9:45 1945. Got my Alex. car license, cashed Weidemann's interest check to keep me going a while - we practised play at 10:30 at Easern Ave. then gave it for group of Exec. Secs. 1946. Drove in from Middleton to 10 So. Orchard by 7. Very tired from yesterday's unpacking. Polished silver, washed hoe, sewed buttons + snaps on Signe's white blouse. Stamped 3 dishtowels for Hilda + began emb. them. Took nap. Walked to grocery, and at 9, to mail letters at Univ. P.O. Letter from Olive. + Denmark
