1942. Planted most of cold frame, + with Frank's help, 2 rows potatoes. Took 4H calendars to school + walked to store. Transplanted violets. 1943. Up at 8 (tho got Frank off at 5:30 as usual). Cleaned most of house, baked pineapple upside down cake. To Madison, took down Washington phone message for Hans. Visited Signe. 1944. Hans got mail in Alex. before he went to work. Frank has mumps + in Sta. Hosp in Camp Wheeler - I wrote several letters, baked bread, washed in the 600 laundry room - got overshoes in deep clay hanging out. Mrs. Meythaler brought more mail in P.M. 54º 73º 1945. Went to Wash. Deposited $3 collateral at Municipal police station. Got soaked in rain getting back to bus. Terrific indigestion in night. Hans in London hospital with sinusitis. 1946. Shopped on State St. in A.M. Got fountain pen for Hans, Wittnauer watch for myself - long wanted - + 1 film. Ironed, mended, cut out red print house dress for Signe. Talked with Dori, Ellen. Girls out in eve. I read + slept.
