1942. Ironed 12 shirts, etc. Hans + Jay in Madison on an all-day investigation. Finished planting cold frame. Nap. Went to Middleton for meat, etc. Waste comments. Worked on old tennis court till dark, burning weeds. Chatt's planted a lot of their war garden. 1943. Spring at last. Washed + ironed, Sig made pajamas + hauled wheelbarrow of chicken manure from Burso' + planted my 8 roses + tamarix. Dolores Gehin came up in PM + fixed up 4H sec. book. Marvin plowed our garden. Signe + I tried to burn brush. 1944. 70º. Hans + I drove to Alexandria for mail - but no freight yet. Did some cleaning, mending, baking. Sig came in eve for part of her uniforms. 44º 97º 1945. Wasn't able to get K's breakfast even. By 9:15 I drove to Dentist Abramson in Alex. who advised hot saltwater + poultices. which I did all P.M. Read some in Aldous Huxley's "Time must have a stop." Some "book." 1946. Slept fine at Olga's. Did dusting, etc, then went to Edward methodist church with Lois Jean for Easter program. 17 joined church. got slides from Mr. Pollock + projector from high school. Showed Hans' pictures in P.M. 25 of the Skott clan at Olga's Francis home on 30 day furlough. We called on Lizzie Miller. Home at 9:30 P.M.
