May 8 1942. Sunny. Worked outside nearly all day, seeded scabiosa, poppies, last of glads, and got plants from Schmidt's. Set out 30 phlox, 18 asters, + 1 petunias + 15 ageratum. Wrote letters for silver wedding invitations, Mothers Day card from Hilda. 1943. Scrubbed + waxed rear entry linoleum, baked bread, attended funeral services for [Ardis?] Skrenes' mother at GUnderson funeral home with Sig. Sig + I hunted for luggage for her- she was notified by War Dept to come to Ft. Belvoir, Va. May 19. Baked chocolate cake. 1944. Nice wash day, but handwashing tires me. Slept an hour in P.M. Hans + I worked in garden in eve. Garden coming up nicely. 1945. V-E Day celebrated. K + I went to Victory Mtg. in eve in front of P.O. Rainy A.M. I finished "The Green Years". Made 2 pleated green skirts for danish girls. 1946. Baked bread + oatmealcookies. Girls + I ironed. Heard anniversary of V-E Convocation at Univ on WHA. Met Pauline at 4 o'clock bus.
