June 3

1942 A real rest - + a nap in P.M! Ironed, made Frank's "corn -y" pajamas. Just Frank + I for supper - then Hans + Jay came for asparagus + strawberry shortcake. 
Hot 1943. took K to Madison, bought a dress + girdle, + white eyelet batiste for Hilda. Took Mrs. Northrup + Mrs. Wirth to Middleton where we made 50 or 60 surgical dressings for Red Cross in 2 hr. Worked in garden. 
1944. Nice breeze. Shampooed my hair. Put in several hours cross stitching. Hilda + Lois here for supper. Gen. R. brought his pictures, + Mr + Mrs. Harold Meythaler + Eleanor Murray came to see, too!
1945 Roasted a duck for dinner. Dale Schubert, a "C.O." here for dinner; girls went to U.B.S.S.  + church with him. I finished packing Sig's 2 blue suitcases for my summer. Hilda took me to "Capitol Limited" B + O. train at 5:30. Slept in an upper.
