Saving...
1942. Slept 9 hours! ironed, then stemmed 14 qt. berries K. picked. Took 1 qt each to Mrs. Annie at St. Mary's + Sig, put 9 qt. in locker. Got permit to bury 15 lb. sugar for bees. Shower. Wrote letters. 1943. Waffles or breakfast. K took Hilda's old desk in. I finished cleaning up veg. garden except potatoes. Could get no one to make surgical dressings so went in alone. Repair man came. I baked choc. chip cookies. 1944. Baked bread, hemmed white linen cloth - 4" on each end, worked on cross stitch cloth. In eve Hans + I walked to Alex. + back; saw "Ladies Courageous". 1945. Slept at Daniels - but not too well after 2 ice creams! Lovely Childrens' Day program trained by Greta M. Bus at 11:15 5o Bacaboo. Adele took me to Farm Kitchen for home-cooked chicken dinner. Fred building chickenhouse. Saw "Mrs. Parkington" in eve. 1946. Girls walked up Peterson's Butte with John while Anna + I did our washing, etc. We all ironed some. No modern conveniences - not even lights. Washed with gasoline engine. Good visit.
