June 12 1942. Cleaned downstairs, stemmed 12 qt. berries Kathryn picked. hoed weeds in garden for several hours, did some final transplanting of zinnias, etc. 1943. Assembly, recreation, discussion groups, until we left at 3:45 for home. Quite warm. Stopped for ice cream at Lodi. Prepared some asparagus for freezing. Went to annual Comm. Church Mtg. Gave S S report + acted as a telev. 1944. Thru washing 9:45. Getting warmer. Hemmed third side of linen table1°cloth. To WSCS in eve at church. Mrs. Clarke called on me! 51° 1945 Mrs. Wittenburg took me in to the 10 A.M. Middleton bus. To Mary MacKenzie's for lunch. Saw Mrs. Stauke in hospital- better. Ardis Skreues saw me off for Epworth. Bus crowded, especially after Dubuque. At Warchter's, on old Brody place. Rita + I surprised each other at Dubuque. 1946. Left cabins at 7:07. Soon into the big redwoods. Many state parks. Saw world's tallest tree, 364 ft. 1200 yr. old. Drove thru one. Store in 1 tree; bought birthday gift for Marie there. Supper in Woodland, to Millie's soon after 9.
