June 20 1942. Rain all forenoon! Sat around and visited all forenoon then after lunch took Mrs. Carleton to 12:40 bus for Epworth. Mrs. Mictl, [Chatt's?] called. K + 3 girls + I picked a few berries in eve. 1943. Nice rain in morning. Only 31 at S.S. Gave Rev. Stanke my DVBS book. Had first peas. Cooked chicken. Baked chocolate cake, probably last for a while. Took nap- Wrote 3 letters. Transplanted some crowded flower plants. 1944. Typed a week's menu drove to nutrition class, worked 3 14 hrs. on surgical dressings. Made nearly 200. Box come from K. with goods for blue net dress. 1945 Canned 3 pt. strawberries, baked bread. Picked a pan of berries and dressed a hen after supper. Vacuumed Dora's rugs. She sat in sun but it was too cool for me. 102° 1946. Helped Millie pick plum-cherries + dress chickens. At 12:45 Verna + I went to Woodland with Gene. I got movie films, nearly lost coin purse. Home by taxi t 3. Mr. + Mrs. Kuntz at Millie's in eve. She translated several pages of Uncle Claus' autograph album.
