1942 Worked in flower garden hoeing from 6 to 7:30, following a shower. Picked a qt. berries. Baked cream cake for 4H. Made sunshine preserves. Mrs. Daniels here in P.M. 4H in backyard in eve. Girls gave reports of State Club week. 15 here. [illegible] day. 1943 coldest: 48º Warmest: 64º. Very cool wind in AM. but I worked in garden from 5:45 till 8. Hoed, put in seeds, picked dishpan peas. Took in peas + berries to locker + arranged or Mary M. to help me can beans. Elaine + Donna picked 12 qt. I typed R.C + Ph. Br. news. 1944. Home at 12:30 or so. Hot, but some breeze. K. went in to Wash + had lunch with Hilda. Hilda phoned to have picnic, so she, Pual, P., K, Hans + I drove south of Alex. I made cherry cake, ice cream, etc. 1945. Rex + I shopped in Ames, then I canned 21 pt. apricots. Baked bread. Florence brought me a thick letter Hans wrote from Lubeck. Rex + Dora went to reception for Meth. preacher. I visited with Jo while Al picked berries. 1946. To Woodland at 8:40 with Gene. Ella Mae + I stood in line at Western Store + got 2 pr. rayon hose apiece. Got plastic salt + pepper sets for Millie's 3 girls. Merl + Verna Bayless up from Crocket for lunch on way East. Hot. I took nap, picked corn with Lorraine.
