1942. Ironed, baked bread. At last a letter from Pauline Wrote 2 letters to Hans! 1943. Jennie Markham helped in AM. - cleaned back room, ironed curtains, washed windows, polished silver, etc. I baked cookies, washed back room, curtains, planted sweet corn + beets. Hans trimmed elm trees and hilled 3 rows of potatoes. Nice day. 1944. Shoulders very lame in spite of hot showers + my first use of elec. pad for 6 mo. or so. K + I walked to Christ Church. In eve we all walked to Alex. P.O. + back. to mail my letter to Middleton. T.T. 59º! 1945 Did good sized washing. A beautiful washday. Walked to Campustown to send in aent, + sent Sig 3d pair of pants. Manded in backyard while Dora knit. Did some cleaning jobs. Wrote for MTT, first in Iowa. 1946. Ironed. Millie canned qt. apricots. Very hot again. took nap, wrote letters. Gene brought out new "Delineascope" from Corner Drug Store, which I set up and Gene + Ella Mae helped me operate. A wonderful machine! John Oxley here for supper.
