Clara Steen Skott diary, 1942-1946

July 3

1942. Worked in garden. Helped pick 6 qt. strawberries, Put 2 in locker, also 1 qt. peas, + beets. Very tired. Cool. 
K. worked at Sak's in eve.

1943. Sealed last sunshine preserves, planted glads
Hans + I to Middleton for new gas coupons, groc. + car check-up - K came home. The four of us left at 9:30 PM. I drove 90 miles.
1944. Did large washing. K in to U.S. Employment Service, can work at Hat Shoppe. I ironed, then K + I drove to Alex. then to Washington; got her baggage, then we all ate at Hilda's.
Cool 1945. Did the ironing, also laundered my 2 pair ruffled curtains I gave Dora, baked white bread and oatmeal cookies. Frank came about 8 with Jay Whitson from Wisconsin. We walked to Beeaty's, home on bus. I fell on sidewalk, skinned both elbows + left knee. 
99º 1946 Removed 24 pictures from my German scrapbook. Showed 60 pictures at Foursquare Church in eve. Germany, China, + midwest U.S. They paid me $5 for it! which I'll put in their collection plate.
