1942. Up at 6, got beets + peas + prepared 2 qt. of each for locker. Sig, C.J. + Mary Lou went along for shopping. Home at 1 - bees swarming - but they went back home. Finished "They Came to a River" 1943. Slept till 8 again - can't seem to get enough sleep. Did ironing, some cleaning, baked cherry pie, got chickens from Mrs. Haubrecht. Hans + I hoed in eve. Worked out breakfast dem. with Alice + Joyce. 1944. Baked bread, made ice cream, cleaned up house. Took nap. Not much energy. Girls came home from Boston about 10. Were at Concord, Lexington, Cambridge, too. 1945. Rex, Dora + I went to First M. Church. Frank + I called on Edith + Bertha Whitson. We went to Allan's, 1115 Orchard Dr. for nice supper. Victor + Florence here in eve, to bid Frank goodby. 60º was maximum at Frisco. 1946. Gene took me to Woodland when he went to work. I mailed pkg. to Frank, got 6 letters at P.O. Went to Frisco on 9:50 bus. Checked my ticket at Am. Pres. Lines office. So windy I got new hat to replace big black one. Harry Pratt, Anna's step-grandson met me at hotel and took me to his home. Visit all eve with him + Hildegarde
