1942. Better. Frank at Rahmlow's all week + I pack his lunches. Tommy Meuer + Dorothy S here in AM + Dickie Dick, Shirley + Alice here in eve to complete record books. In P.M. Mr Dasch + I visited Elynor, Leo, Marvin, + Juanita 4 letters - from Vera C, Irene Wood, Hilda + , [illegible?] 1943. Canned 7 pt beans + 1 pt spinach, baked bread. Tired so took nap. 6 girls here to fix up record books and make their Fair entries. Mr. Comb came to talk renting our church for a wood shop. 1944. Kathryn and I drove to church. Warmer. Read in "Journey Among Warriors". Wrote dansk Brev til [Fru?] Hansen, [ogsaa?] til [dukel?] John, + MTT 98° 1945. Rained, so we didn't wash. I finished white blouse for Helen Bolin, also middle [illegible] design in needlepoint. Rex, Dora + I drove downtown - Dora's first for many mo. She bot bemberg goods. I mailed Signe's red robe to her. I got no mail today! 80° 1946 Land! Low islands off on port side, so I went on forward deck at 6 AM and was surprised at closeness of rocky Japan. Took several pictures. Saw a fishing boat close, the Samuel G. Howe, open sea all day. Sat up on deck till 10 P.M. Captain's farewell dinner - roast duckling, ice cream. French pastry PACKED 243 miles to Shanghai.
