August 11 Aug 13 1942 Dried to platters of corn. Wrote "Comments". Went to Mrs. Zeigler's birthday party. Took jello. Score 2000. 7Hans went to Dodgeville to see Jay + Paul. 1943. Canned mixed veg. (6 kinds), and 3 1/2 qt. peaches. Ironed 7 shirts + 2 pr. pants. Watered lawn + garden. Patched 4 pr. pants for Frank. 90° 1944. Got nearly a basket of tomatoes- made 1 1/2 pt. juice. Washed bath rug, etc. Got 7 circle. 1945. Slept 7 hrs. or as straight. Did a big ironing. Got my reservations. Sent Frank his snaps. 2 letters from Sig! Allan's bought a house- I lent them 200. I took them + Rex to [illegible] to Scotty's Inn for supper. Riley's here in eve. Hans phoned at midnight. 1946. Very hot. Between breakfast + late lunch on 2nd floor, I went to Chinese Methodist Church on Shangyeng St. Saw last of their crowded S.S. + part of church services. Native pastor, pianist, choir. Read History of China + Kahlil Gibran's "The Prophet".
