August 17 1942. Slept till 6:45. Did big washing, mending, + some ironing, baked bread + rolls. K went on bike to bank for me + got our sugar ration cards at last. Frank + I got suitcases of Sig, a new one for K, a new granite teakettle, etc. Card from Pauline W 1943. Baked bread, ironed + pressed Hans' suit. Picked tomatoes. Oskar + Camilla came just at noon. We went to Orpheum to see "Heaven Can Wait" Got them glass pitcher + dozen glasses. Cool. 94° 1944. Scrubbed + waxed dinette floor, finished cleaning furniture, went to garden, washed my hair, turned apercale sheet, ironed kitchen curtains, finished reading "Razor's Edge." Wrote dansk letter to Fru Hansen in eve 1945. Packed Hilda's things most of day. while Hans saw H.A. Wallace, FEA, Raymond Wilson of Friends' Service, etc We couldn't the last 2 days of "closed shop." Got some roasting ears from garden. Talked to Mrs. Frank Hiatt.
