August 31 1942. Frank + Mr. Elver worked all night moving 28 hives bees 45 mi. from Orfordville. Our bees stole from their supers- A mess of bees around here. I got stung once on leg. Got 7 circle, telegram from Hans he goes to Greenfield Mo. 1943. Went to Middleton + Madison with Hans. Got new "C" gas book for '39 car which he drove to Plymouth. I got new nose pierce for my specs. Came out on bus. Canned 4 1/2 qt. peaches. 1 1/2 pt chili sauce. Wrote Bertha 1944. Hans + Frank + I called on Mrs. [Marks?] Walker. Mrs. Dunn very frail. Also on Ralph Werden. Velma's came + we all went to Olga's for dinner + P.M. 13 of us. Carmin "my girl". Rosemary more like Signe was. To Maq. for Pullman reservation. Saw Bert Morehead, Rex Hainstorks. 1945. Left Dora's 10:30, picked up Mary Alice Whitson + friend to take to Des M. Visited with DR Murphy + Homer Hersh in WF. had lunch, drove to Olga's by 11. Had ice cream. Hot. Tired. 90° 1946 HOT. Failed to get any pictures. Mailed letters to the kids, FPO. Letter from Sig. Saw Director Howard + others. Jo Blades sent me chit- my trunk is in compound back of Astor House. Lunch with Bernice Scroggin in her room. To Am. Methodist Mission. Ortha showed us church, and school; Miss the hospital + nurse's home, etc.
