September 2 1942 Was stung by a bee while hanging a big washing, inc. 12 shirts, 7 trousers, etc. Took nap then canned 11 pt. tomato soup. Rainy, night + P.M. Wrote Elsie. K rides out with Mrs. Bus. Baked cream cake. 1943. Fine weather. Washed Didn't sleep till after 1- then slept till 8:30 AM. Made sandwich spread. Worked with 4H foods girls on record books at Wirth's. 1944. At 2:30 + we + Leslie took Frank in to W.L. "Porker" 4 hrs. late- he got seat. Slept till 8. I silked pail of corn for Bertha. Called Margaret + Bessie. TO field with Pat. 3A tomatoes. Dinner at George's- home grown peaches. Mary took us to their other 2 farms- Geo + boys hulling clover. On Rocky Mt. Limited to Engelwood, Hans called on Theo. Schultz. Changed reservations! 1945. Big picnic dinner at Olga's: Velma's, Melba's, AManda's, Ronnie + Jamie, Earl + Erma Boyer, Jack + Martha Scott, Harlan and Luella Ruff. Wiener roast in outdoor fireplace. Hans showed pictures in P.M. He talked to Youth Fellowship in Elwood church in eve. 1946. Slept 9 or 10 hours- our Tientsin trip wasn't too easy on us, what with the heat. Mended, took nap, read. Hans wrote letters to Bill Green for Jim Hunter to take to Shanghai tomorrow, and application for later work in FAO. Comfortably cool, but I felt tired out!
