September 3 1942 Cool 56° Did huge ironing. Frank mowed front lawn- + hauled hay off! Packed 5 shirts, etc. + mailed to Hans who is to [talk?] at P.P's at [Illegible], Ind. Sunday. Called on Dist. Atty Maloney, who will talk at Woman's Club. Attended WSCS at Trousdale, where C Kirkpatrick talked of Ashram at L. Geneva. Wrote Hans. 1943 Awake from 3 till nearly 6, then slept till 8:15. Ironed, did some mending and cleaning. No canning! Hans came home about 6:45. We walked to Zeiglers for milk- read in Van Loon's "Lines." 1944. Slept till late on Pullman- we had lower, exchanged with young woman who had her baggage stolen. "Brunch" on dier- Read in dansk- AM. Historie Hans got in Iowa City of Prof. Thos. Chistensen- autographed. Washington about 5 Hom on bus- like an oven here! 1945. Hans + I drove to Hartvigsen's. then to Roy Dyas' where we had dinner and saw colored slides upstairs, Met HIlda on 5:15 P.M. bus, then all went to Melba's for supper. We stayed overnight. Kathryn to Sider's _ Hilda to Olga's. 86° 1946. Unpacked some of my trunk, washed rayons, went on bus to Morrison St. Circle, changed $30. Bought 4 needlepoint squares, took film to be developed. Ricsha back. Hans + I took colored pics of decorated bus. Visited with Coulsons. St. Paul plane arr. from Shanghai with 14 Swedish [missionaries?]
