September 6 1942. Slept till 8:30! Kathryn + I went to church + S.S. Mr. + Mrs. Archie Hirst occupied the pulpit. Rested + read. Wrote Hans. 1943. Washed and ironed, made grape jam + jelly, baked double batch of choc-chip cookies. Hans + Frank scrubbed laundry room out to get ready for extracting honey. Cooler in eve. 1944. Worked from 8 till about 2:30 with canteen group at blood donor unit at airport. We served 52- outdoors. Cashed Frank's telegram MO he never got. Canned 12 pt. peaches. 1945. Slept at Weidemann's. While Hans + Hilda interviewed Dr. Kolb and she arranged to attend Univ. of Wis., I drove to Middleton. Told Wittenburg's they could have house another 1- 1 1/2 yrs. Had lunch at Daniels'. Settled rent with Gloss-all Products Co. @ $50 a year. Shopped in Madison, Got new pen. Supper at Y.W. Called on Rahmlow. At Prof Art Haesler to see his German + Austrian pictures. 1946 Cool, cloudy. Ironed. "dansk Santale" In P.M. we went in an UNRRA jeep to village of Sh Fang Yuang with Carol Deyoe to Mr. Wiem's, where we saw his dairy + drank good buttermilk. Saw their RUssian stoves, etc. ate Chinese bread. In eve, Markus fam. of Vienna visited us.
