September 24 1942. Frank started to Univ. 3 days late. I housecleaned his room. Cold + windy. I picked a lot of lima beans, etc. + bushel of beets. 1943. Did some dusting + cleaning. Chilly. 53° 69° 1944. Chilly. Hans + I read dansk, short call on Perry Gribble. wrote MTT + other letters, then we walked to P.O. to mail them. 1945. Wore suit to Alex- rather warm. Got Hans billfold + another chem. hot water bag, began buying Christmas cards. Wrapped another pkg. for Hilda- her scrapbook, etc. Hans + I lost each other in Alex! Fixed up his miniature album to take along with 18 pictures in it. 82° 1946. At 10, UNRRA phoned that car would be here at 11 to take Hans to Prebyterian Hosp. Dr. Henke- of Baraboo, Wis! examined heart, had him carried to bed, gave him digitalis, invited me to lunch in his home! Back to Language School for tea, took shaving outfit, nite shirt, etc. to him _ came back in pedicab just in time for dinner. Letters from all our girls.
