September 28 1942. Froze again, but nice wash day. Did ironing, too; swept stairs, took nap, shopped in Middleton. Guild food sale comm. mtg at Pick's in eve. Took Hazel Z. letter from Hazel. 1943. Took Hans to 6:35 bus at Middleton for Marshfield. Picked melons + flowers. Frank + Hilda in bed. Begged off from going to Mt. Houlb dist. WSCS today. To Guild. Mrs. Schreiber reviewed "One World". Sold more than $5 worth of cards. 64° 78° 1944 Baked bread, wrote 3 letters, sewed a bit, went in to Wash. on 3 o'clock bus. Bought blue hate [w?] fuschia feathers + scarf. Met Hans at 14th + I + we ate in park there. Rained. Dansk lesson. Mine "Landets Fødvarers" var in Dannevirke. 1945. Hans in bed all A.M. with cold, cough, + sinus trouble aggravated by this heat. I sewed US insignia on his khaki shirts. We drove to DC in PM- to FEA, then to Civil Service Commission, Hot. My shoulders lame from sitting in draft yesterday. Couldn't sleep. 77.8° 1946 Chilly in forenoon. After ironing + pressing, went to hospital for rest of day. Because of indigestion last night, I went without lunch. Typed a letter to Wm Green for Hans, wrote note to Orpha Gould to go by Mr. Scratch to PaoTing Fu (Not delivered, as Communists took ".")
