October 2 Sunny 1942. Frank still in bed. I took off 6 screens, cleaned + sunned "Caspar", mopped- then was very tired as rheumatism in hip joint. Wrote Hans, Verna, + Millie Oxley. Went to Madison with Frank. So hot my hips got better. 1943. Canned 3 qt. McIntosh applesauce + I pt. juice. Shopped in MIddleton. Took nap. Cooked chicken for supper. Still having muskmelons. Hilda bicycled to Morey's. 1944 Fog cleared, so washed, inc. Epworth guilt- first I ever washed by hand! Walked to Alex. + back. Warm with my suit. Did a little Christmas shopping. We wrote dansk story about Sig- took all eve. 1945. Rainy forenoon. Wrote ltters, + a 5" talk for our training class. Walked to Alex. for 1st time this fall, attended Circle A of WSCS in church office. Hans in bed all forenoon. We finished Niels Ebbesøn in eve. Sewed 1 1/2 hr on K's pajamas. 1946. Put on flannel nightie. With a chance of getting a room for Hans on first floor, I helped the room "boy" move his things into mine, relinquishing his room. Spent PM in hospital, Hans sat up 20 min! (+ play solitaire). Much colder; Ha Ta Men Lou was really clear in eve of street stalls and crowds. Took me 45" to get home, bus was so slow. A piano at Language School.
