October 10 1942. A wonderful day. Sat in sun in yard to rip up old coat. Baked bread, apple + squash pies, dressed chicken, [illegible]. Birthday cards from Hilda, J Z, Velma T Signe came out with Hans at noon- 5 of us went to Weidemann's in eve. Tired + sleepy. 1943. Hans + I walked to church as he left car in Eau CLaire. 70 at SS rode with Bells. Norman Critser came out from new home in Madison to be Supt. I put in birthday money "6!" Studied dansk- Lesson 6, + "dunck i America" with Hans. Fine day. Frank up, first since Monday. 1944. Letter from Signe, mailed Sept 29- it's longer each time! FINE DAY. Walked to Alex, shopped for Elsie (cosmetics_ + worked 1 /34 hours on surgical dressings, Hans + I skrev dansk i Aften. DId a 100% crossword puzzle. 1945. Got box from store + paced box for K, her new pajamas, cookies, magazines, etc. Went to FEA + Dr. Likert's office + collected Hans' scrapbooks, also my blue bag from Helen Miller. Bought a film- 1st time I could find one this year. Hans still in bed. 52° 72.9° 1946 From 9 to 5 I went sightseeing with the Baboo family to the Forbidden City! (south half) Took 5 pics on 620, 4 on Perfex. Went thru Historical Museums, 2 bldgs. with Throne Rooms, museum of old weapons, all sorts of art- carved ivory pictures, paintings, embroidery, jade, porcelains, etc. We ate lunch beneath trees.
