October 11 1942. Nice day. 9 went in our car to church. Sig + Z each gave me a hankie. Read + rested. My new electric pad is fine. 1943. A perfect wash day- thru by 10:20. Wrote Cousin Frank + Anna. Baked bread, did most of ironing. Got 5 birthday cards, letter from Elsie, set of refrig covers from Zillie, hkdf from Flo. Flower seeds from Emily H. Walked to lib. board mtg at Jesse Gray's in eve. 6 there. Ora J. brought me home. 46° 64° 1944. Sunny A.M. Cloudy P.M. Did 2 1/2 lines of washing in spite of infection on little finger, 2 places. Birthday V mail from Sig on the dot! Card from Wayne in Paris. Hdkf from Hazel Z, card from Mrs. Schwenn last week. Put fresh veil on brown hat, took cuffs from pr. pants, read in "Indigo". 1945. Nice day, but Hans still sick abed. K. sent me box of laundry soap, booklet how to crochet toys + 2 House + Hard booklets + a turtle! Went to bank, mailed book of German snapshots to Frank, shopped a little for gifts, waked home. Cards from Kate Whalen, Mother Skott, note from Adele. 1946. No letters nor card, till late PM- from Helen + Millie. Our yellow mums are lovely. I returned "Indiscreet Letters from Peiking" to library + got thick one on "Peiping" We went to hospital in rickshaws; saw Ortha Lane on street! Dr. Weiss says cut down to 1/2 digitalis tablet each alternate day. Read.
