1942 Busy day - baked bread, canned 6 pt. pears, did ironing. Had Dr. Muehlmeier re-set a crown. 1943 37 degrees. Sunny. Had last peas from garden. Brought in beets, cabbage, flowers. Hemmed heavy khaki pants for Frank, washed 4 storm windows and front room W. on outside. Frank put them on. 8 4Hers here in eve. games by mailbox, lunch in our d. room. Bob for apples on clothesline. 1944 Drove to Alex., mailed Sig's clock, Ger. dictionary and cookies to Kathryn; Sig's needlepoint and things from Hilda. Lineups! Oh P.O. and bank. 1945 54 degrees Walked to Alex, mailed out package to Frank on Luzon. Lineup: 15 min. Washed - only 1 lineful. Baked bread, Hans still abed. Got hdkf from Florence, also birthday card - and one from Velma T. 1946 Clear. We walked around the nearest small "square". At 2, I walked to Ha Ta Men Gate, up on city wall nearly to Ch'ien Men. Took 8 pics. inc. lions and shrines at Ch'ien Men. Pedicab home. Wore grey jacket and jersey dress. 2 U.S. Navy trucks on top of old wall!
