October 18

1942  Beautiful day. Took Jane to church and S.S.  Hurried dinner, then took Hans to 1:50 Milw. train to Bluffton, Ind - Called on Mary MacKenzie; Peter home from Ky.

1943  Breakfast at Hansen's. Drove to Unity and a country cheese factory, then northwest. Stopped at a Mennonite public sale - Drove to Ladysmith by 3 - at Hotel Baker, wrote Comments, letters to Amanda, her mother, Margaret F. Sent cards to Frank, Sig, and K., letter to Hilda and travelog to Cap [illegible]].

1944  Sewed all day, finishing up last 2 of 6 dresses for Danish Relief. Went in on 7:30 bus, met Hans at South Agr. Bldg. To Danish Club. Hans elected Vice-Pres. Rode with Nielsen's to Va. bus.

1945  80 degrees  Made Hilda's pajamas. We sat out in the sun, twice. Baked oatmeal cookies. Worked on an article for Hoard's Dairyman about using dried skim milk.

1946  79 degrees  Did little I planned to do, as Hans was monkeying with the Perfex. Took films to Old Capitol Shop. Bought vacuum bottle and chiffon veil in Tunq An market a Sept. 30 TIME.
