Picked bouquet delphinium, nasturtiums, alyssum. 1942 Awake at 3:45 with headache. - then slept till 7. No good all a.m. Went to Madison - Keyses, etc. Home Ec. Club at Mrs. Wegener, 1508 Drake. Mrs. Ruth Dietz talked on Alaska. K and I to Legion Hall in eve where Comm. Recreation Council organized. I sec. 1943 Breakfast at Ladysmith. I drove west to Turtle Lake, where we went thru big dried skim milk plant, ate, then went to big Danish settlement, Luck, back to Clear Lake. Fine weather. Supper at Menomonie, then drove till 10:30, and slept at Augusta, Wis. 1944 45 degrees, 78 degrees 5 hrs. sleep - then no good. Slept an hr. in P.M. Didn't do a thing all day, but managed to go in on 5:15 bus - stood up all the way - then Hans and I took Chevy Chase circle bus at FEA. Supper at Ho Toy. Dansk lesson. 1945 83 Canned 2 pt. apples from our Shenandoah Valley apples, did some cleaning, wrote dansk Brev til Florence. Hans and I went on 12:30 bus to Fu Hanson's. Vi talte dansk. Brought home scrapbook. Actually got 3 films! Fine summery day; oaks in D.C. quite red. 1946 Finally think we have learned to operate the Perfex on "time". Went on bus with Hans to office at 10:30, monkeyed around till noon, came back in UNRRA car. We shopped in Clock Store, got 2 yd. green cotton, cherry blossom design and a dozen Christmas Cards! Wrote a letter [paa?] dansk to Nettie Brandt.
