1942 At WSCS planning mtg. at first Church in Madison from 10-3. Drizzly day. Letter from Pauline at last, Uncle Chris. Collected "white elephants" from Otto Toepfer's and set up booth at church for bazaar. 1943 Nice day again. Frost in morning. Elbow bothered in mopping, but cleaned most of downstairs. Baked honey chocolate cake. To Henkel's for my belated birthday party. Blue swan and hdkf from Procknow, towel and holder from Henkel, cream and sugar, Zeigler, 2 dishes and coin for war chest. 1944 Gray day, a little rain. Went to store, baked bread and cookies, washed bedroom curtains 7 yr. old - they washed into holes), washed bedroom windows and Venetian blinds, put up my newer curtains. Crocheted on apron. Letter from K that Carrie Kirk is coming to Wash. Tried to phone [Vernon?]. 1945 Mrs. Story and I drove to Tampa over 6 mile long bridge over Tampa Bay. Shopped. Hans worked on box to hold our slides. He took our pictures on the [illegible] "Green Benches" of St. Pete. 1946 Cannon shook my windows! Practise. Wrote more notes and cards. After lunch I got 35 mm film at Foto Shop, bought some cloisonne, etc. in Tung An market, mailed more than 30 Christmas cards with notes at FPO. Took 2 time pics of Marine and lion. Took film back to Foto Shop after 5. Mailed letter for Mrs. Schrog by flashlite after supper.
