NOVEMBER 25 1942. Mild. Called on new neighbor Mrs. Davis. Washed hair. In P.M. I dug a peck of carrots, bare-handed. Planted new daffodil. Picked parsley for Adele, also cress outdoors & dug salsify for supper. Sig came - at Hazel's in eve to wrap bazaar money. Won 1st at (bunco-a-liddy?) Began (illegible) 1943. Baked pumpkin pies and roast duck. Washed windows, etc. Frank & Ina Bliss and Gene came about noon. Had fine visit. They stayed till 5. Wrote Pauline, Mother Skott 1944. Got gas & groc. in Alex. Baked bread & rolls & pumpkin pie. Hilda, Carine Kirkpatrick, Vernon, & Ethel Hiell K (Neal's wife) here for 6:30 dinner. Had our last Wis strawberries. 34* 46* 1945. Telegram from Signe in N. Y. came while I was at church. Bishop Edwin F. Lee preached about his air trip over the pacific, to P. F., Australia, New Guinea, etc. We stayed home, writing letters. 1946. Hans to office. Farewell to Mrs. Wang, Orly, Christiansen. Red UNRRA Dodge took us & 10 pieces baggage to noon train. UNRRA (cheesebebox?) met us at [Tientsin?], where Hans got cholera shot at Customs office. Supper & over night at Astor House. Started to type - no light after 8. No directory - could not phone Ortho
