NOVEMBER 28 1942. More snow. Juanita cleaned, I baked cookies & custard Frank drove to Orfordville for bee supplies. I shopped in Middleton. 1943. Awake from 4-6 then slept till 8:00. 70 at S.S. Kathryn went with me. Mrs. O' Kane & boys rode out with us. Reading "The Shining Trail" Iola Fuller. Met Z's train a half hr. late. 1944. We washed; I baked bread, and did part of ironing. Napped 1 1/2 hrs! Crocheted on apron. 40° 48° 1945. Awake at 4 - roasted my rheumatic right shoulder, then slept till 8! Rainy. Baked wh. wh. raisin bread, ironed. wrote more letters. mended. Hans drove auto home from an overhauling job in Alex. 20° 1946. Thanksgiving day on the Yellow Sea. We both ate breakfast - all 3 meals. (Hans in his bunk I sat on deck, then read and wrote inside with gloves on. A little more comfortable in P.M. Played solitaire, but couldn't beat "Old Man of the Sea" Read in C A Beard's Formation of Foreign Policy, & Lady Good-for-Nothing by Q.
