-8º 1942 Cold + windy. Awake from 4 A.M, tried to nap 3 times. Ironed 14 shirts, etc. packed Hans' bag. Darned, etc. Hans + I worked on Christmas card + gift list. 30º-48º 1943. Cloudy. Started making a dimity apron. Frank home early for lunch, so that I got good start to Madison. Stopped at Roberts', shopped, went to Trousdale bazaar. Home 5:20. Wrote Sig. Hans sent me dansk papers. 27º 36º 1944 Baked bread, did some cleaning. Hans home in bed, with sore lungs, taking infra-red treatment. Crocheted first bootee. 30º 48º 1945. We all walked to church and back. Nice day. Baked choc. chip cookies (first sw. choc. I had seen for months). A fine day. Nap in P.M. Walked to church + back in eve, where Hans gave his illustrated "sermon." Nate Burkans, his classmate, a member of the church, there. About 250 there. 38º 48º 1946. Spent most of the day waiting around. Finally was given a typing test at 3:30. Hans' boss, Bill Green, + especially Elvin Duest were very helpful. Saw Mrs. Anne Weaver a bit. Art Grove had lunch with us and spent noon hr. in our room. Hotel room 123 not too warm so to bed early.
