19 -12 deg. Letters from Hilda and Adele. Juanita helped till 10:30. Went to Middleton for groc. etc. Pkg. from Olga. Fringe-whipped 2 more napkins in Adele's lunch set. Wrote more cards. 1943. Up to 7 and took Frank to Morley's at 8. Took Hazel to S.S. and church. 43 there. Was Supt. Hans called from Washington, talked with Hilda, too. Wrote more Christmas cards. 3 boys played cards with Frank. 1944 24 deg - 31 deg. Washed a rug and hose, etc. Really cold. Embroidered dish towel for Ellen. Hans' mother began reading a German book on 1938 agriculture for him. Letter from Pauline with card she mailed me 3 or 4 [illegible]. [illegible] Henry left in pocket. 1945 23 deg-28 deg. 7" snow overnight! Crocheted blue edge on hdkf. Ironed, put up fresh curtains, etc. Cleaned bathroom window and blind, light fixtures, pictures, etc. Hans discouraged because UNRRA said they do not want him. 1946. Got 2 more Kodachromes from Sig - and the 3 we ordered in Oct. from Woodland!. Cold all day in hotel, and my throat got sorer. Sent 2 Christmas cards to Hupei. Walked in P.M. on Nanking Road - Christmas decor, cards, etc. in several stores. Got film album for 620's for Hans. To bed early.
