December 27 1942. Rain turned to ice on roads. Rev. Stanke got stuck coming from Belleville, so no church. We didn't go at all. Have cold, so read. Wrote 7 circle + card to "Zillie" 1943. Up at 6 for Frank's breakfast again and lunch, then slept till 8. Dusted the house, wrote Hilda. Girls walked to airport. In P.M. we walked to Branch. Finished "The Forest + The Fort" 1945 Slept 9 hrs. Did some ironing, drove to Alex. twice- to get vacuum cleaner cord repaired; tire permit of ration board. Hanshad a flat tire coming home. HIlda + Marie to Mt. Vernon- Signe to Hopewell, Va. to see Ella. Hans + I to Danish Club in Pierce Hall in eve. Nice tree-Santa-danske Sang- magician. Home 11:30. 1946. Clear and colder. Got 5 letters (3 Christmas cards)- our first mail for a week. Walked on Szechuen St. to Ave. Edward VII (Cheng CHung Road), found Intourist office + got rates on trip to Copenhagen. Walked home along the Whangpoo River. Wrote Hilda + Sig.
