January 23

JANUARY 23
-10 degrees 1948. We got up late.  I baked bread and did a 10 days' washing, hung it in south bedrooms.  Carpenters, Mr. Chesney, Larry Dorn came at noon, put in 6 downstairs windows.
1949. Actually slept more than 9 continuous hours.  I needed it.  Cleaned up apt. and as it rained + froze as it fell, we left for Muscoda at 3:30.  Nearly slid off road at Orion.  Had Mueller come out + pull us back on.
1950. Awake after 4:15.  Washed, baked bread, made pattern for velveteen cushion, basket design for grandma to make Hilda.  Chased all over Mdltn. in vain to find junket tablets for Kathryn.  Sewed a bit.  Read in eve.
1951. K. started working 3 day weekly for Daniels' at painting office.  I ironed, baked brown bread.  I sent box to Knieps + church writeup for scrapbook to Emma Dickson.  Hans to office.
1952. Awake 3 hrs in early AM.  So took nap AM + PM!  Ironed.  Hans up for first since Sunday.  I took him to Branch for half hr.  Wm Rabe, then Wm. Chase here 5-6, 6-6:30.  Edith K + I saw "Kon Tiki".
