JANUARY 24 1948. Hans has cold, but would help us clean plasterers' mess from 1st floor. I also ironed, and at library added to memorial shelves and now juvenile shelf. New "In Memoriam" plaque at last. 1949. Very icy. Awake from 2:45 to nearly 6. So felt sleepy + tired all day. Walked down town to cash a check. 1950. Drizzle. Ironed - with traveling iron - took other to Lubcke. Fine radio talk on Germany by Prof. Howard Becker. Awake from 3:40 AM so slept an hour. Hans talked + showed pics to Mens' Brotherhood in eve. I read in Hunters' Horn. 1951. Took Hans to bus to Oshkosh + home by 7:00 AM. Took nap. Frank slept here + left for Rockford at 5AM. I wrote seed order, shampooed hair, was at library. -11 degrees 1952. Coldest so far this winter. Warmed up in PM + snowed. Baked white bread. Hans stayed home yet as so cold. My eyes ache from movies so napped. To Phelps' in eve where comm. of 10 planned football banquet for Feb. 20, 9 at church annual, finally!
