1948 Swept out last plaster, etc. from "den" + men began laying oak flooring there. Did washing, hung in basement. Cleaned up several more floors upstairs. Grosse found maple flooring for us for upstairs. 1949 Signe + Owen and Kae come out for birthday dinner for Sig, Owen, + Hans. Frank brought the ice cream. The kids played bridge + hearts. We left 4:30. I took a few Kodachromes at home. 1950 Awake after 4:30, so slept an hour before we did the washing. My cold is worse, but I made 2 striped scarves for K + me, cut out + began flannel nightie - till machine wouldn't go in gear. 1951 -38 degrees, -53 degrees at Lone Rock - record for S. Wis. Slept fine. Mr. Vold blew out 2 fuses on cold wash machine. I helped shovel out driveway by road. Hans had quite a time getting out on slick snow. To Jefferson for the day. Aunt Minnie Vold very sick - I gave her enema after vomiting over - stayed upstairs all night. Read in "The Queen Bee" 1952 Not so cold. Ironed. Made 10 button holes for Signe. In P.M. Edith K + I bought $95 of dishes + silver for church. Jim Walters unloaded them for me here. To Norbert Millers in eve for order, totaling $28 for me on $181 in Jan.
