1948 Hans + I "floored" upstairs bathroom with a layer of paper, one of lath, then plywood-ready for linoleum - nap, as haven't slept well 3 nights in row. 60 books added to Jan. makes 448 books this month. Sun did a little thawing. Very chilly in eve. Men have hung some doors. 1949 Hans had headache since last eve - I got car from Richter's for him, got hot lunch groceries from Bock's (illegible) with Gary Adams. Freshmen begin working on cotton dresses, patterns. 1950 2" of light snow. Sunny. Ironed, walked downtown, did various hand work till Lubcke's young helper, Grim, fixed up my sewing machine. Hans' auditing begins - at Monroe. -10º 1951 Awakened at 5:30 when Aunt Minnie was up. I got breakfast for Hans + he went back to Jefferson. Did the washing. At noon just above zero, first time in 66 hours. Light snow. Anna May came at noon to care for her aunt. 1952 Up to 43º, water running in St. Vacuumed rug, sent order, took nap, after which felt better. Called on Mary Sholts. Doris B. here in P.M. Rev. Wierwill in eve.
